Describing feelings in times of stress leads to less fear

Although many of us may try to avoid or suppress strong emotions these emotions when expressed can actually help us deal with fearful feelings.  One study found that 88 people with a fear of spiders managed to walk closer to a spider and eventually touch it if they spoke about their emotions of anxiety, fear and terror.
